I have do not have any problem with Garmin product, as a matter of fact most boaters prefer Garmin electronics as they are user friendly. My problem comes with the support at Garmin. Earlier in 2015 Boat Nut met with Humber School of Sailing, an education center which is a top flight. We approached Garmin with the idea of creating an electronics education course, an education program based on requests of Canadian Boaters. Now I need you to understand that Humber College runs this school and they are trying very hard to support boater education and have invested millions in the building and facilities to do this.

But we are in Canada, according to figures released last week a 3 billion dollar a year market. What we were informed of by Jeffery Davis Garmin Marketing was that our market (CANADA) was not sizeable enough for support. That they had programs they were supporting in the US.

I took this to mean that if Canadian boaters want to learn more about the products they purchase at places like the Toronto International Boat Show that we would have to travel to the US. That's bull, what are we to do here, I believe that if you sell a product in a country you better dam well get behind any Boating Education Program particularly one being offered at a College backed facility. I know that this is not the only boating market with this issue in the world.

So before you spend your hard earned dollars with Garmin or any other international supplier ask what support they can provide you with beside an 800 customer service number. These manufacturers need to understand that there are no second class boaters. We all need access to the same information and training as the US Boaters receive!

I am going to ask them to reconsider there previous decision today I will post the answer to you!

I spoke to Garmin at the Toronto International Boat Show and have a new contact a MR T Rockburn lets see what he says in 2016
