Overview

The Republic of Colombia is the fourth largest economy in Latin America, and has the third largest population. It is the only country in South America with two coasts, on the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, which provides tactical shipping advantages in today’s global market. Aided by major security improvements, steady economic growth, and moderate inflation, Colombia has expanded its free market economy with major commercial and investment ties to the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Colombia is the third largest market for U.S. exports in Latin America.

 

 

 

Currently, the country has 26 marine docks and marinas with a total docking capacity of 2,700 boats in the Caribbean Sea, between the city of Santa Marta and the Morrosquillo Gulf, but no marinas are yet available on the Pacific Ocean. The government is currently developing plans for the construction of several marinas and associated infrastructure with the objective of attracting marine tourism in several location in the Caribbean Sea, including San Andrés Island, Santa Marta, and Cartagena, and expand the number of travelers that look to enjoy activities such as snorkeling, fishing, water sports, and the like and generate a demand for new and more capable boats than the ones currently in use.

BOAT NUT hopes all of our readers took the time to complete the MADD CANADA survey. Its the information from these surveys that provide current statistics for TRANSPORT  CANADA and other groups who legislate new boating laws and regulation for boaters. This type of information is difficult to get as completing these surveys is voluntary. As boaters we should be as involved in completing as many surveys and questionnaires as possible that come from groups like MADD CANADA in conjunction with TRANSPORT CANADA. We need input into the direction that laws that are created for our community. Almost all of these laws are created and past with little to no input from the boating community. We are represented by groups who have virtually no contact with myself or any other boater I know.

So please take the time to get involved with BOAT NUT & MADD  CANADA and all other grass roots organizations that ask for you to get involved. It is important to the future of our ability to boat as freely as possible and enjoy are time on our boats with our friends and family.

 

Boaters in Canada are notorious for their lack of involvement in on line forums and are reluctant to join groups that are working to represent you.

Saturdays: 11am – 9pm
Monday: 11am – 6pm
Tuesday through Friday: 3pm – 9pm

MONDAY
President’s Day & Senior Day – Seniors 65 and older receive free admission. Open early to accommodate children off of school (Show hours 11 a.m. — 6 p.m.) Kids 12 and under are always free.
TUESDAY
Ladies’ Day – Free Admission for Women (show hours 3 p.m. — 9 p.m.)

Detroit Boat Show Gives Back. Autism Awareness Day – First 100 people to the show receive a free t-shirt.
WEDNESDAY
A Boat Load of Food – Donate 5 canned goods at the door to Gleaners Community Food Bank and receive free admission from 3-6 p.m. (show open until 9 p.m.)
THURSDAY
Millennial’s Night Out – Free admission to those 30 and under (show hours 3 p.m. — 9 p.m.)
